GENERAL POLICIES

1. Participation in any area of the Ice Arena is at the user’s own risk.

2. The University cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items. Please do not bring valuables into the Ice Arena. All lost personal belongings can be reported to the Ice Arena Skate Shop Staff. Stolen items should be reported to the Campus Police.

3. No animals are permitted in the facility expect for licensed guide/medical dogs, etc.

4. Smoking and/or the use of smokeless tobacco is not permitted in the Ice Arena.

5. With the exception of the Ice Arena Lounge, possession/consumption of alcoholic beverages is not allowed anywhere in the facility.

 

6. Use of abusive and/or profane language is offensive. The Ice Arena Staff reserves the right to refuse admittance to the facility, or instruct individuals to leave the facility for such behavior.

7. All dressing and undressing must be done in the team’s designated locker rooms. No changing may be done in the Studio Ice warming area, lobby, matted area, etc. In the event that a team cannot enter their locker room, bags may be placed in the designated “Bag Drop” area which is located at the end of the stands in the southeast corner of the Ice Arena.

8. With the exception of water (in a shatter proof container) food and beverages are prohibited on all ice surfaces.

9. All figure skaters should adhere to the Ice Arena Figure Skating Rules and Regulations that are posted on the bulletin board outside of the Skate Shop. Copies of the rules and regulations are also available in the Skate Shop.

10. No hockey sticks and/or pucks may be used on the Studio Ice unless the ice time has been contracted through the Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association.

11. Floor hockey is not permitted in the building.

12. Balls and other objects may not be batted, thrown, hit, or kicked against or at walls, doors, windows, lights, etc. at any time.

13. No rollerblades, skateboards, heeleys, etc. may be used in the facility.

14. Running is not permitted in the facility.

15. The Press Box is off limits to anyone who does not have permission from Ice Arena Staff.

16. The Ice Arena and its staff abide by and support the USA Hockey Zero Tolerance policy for aggression and violence. Inappropriate and destructive behavior of spectators, players, officials and team officials will not be tolerated. Violators will be asked to leave the premises.

17. A key exchange is required to gain access to locker rooms and storage rooms.

18. Signs/banners and bulletin board postings must be approved by Ice Arena Staff.

19. Customers utilizing the Lounge are responsible for setup and takedown of the facility. Equipment and/or furniture, including tables and chairs, cannot be moved into the Ice Arena without prior approval from the Ice Arena Director. Use of the fireplace will involve an additional cost and all fires will be built by Ice Arena Staff only.

20. Alcoholic beverages may be served in the Lounge with the following stipulations: advance approval from the Ice Arena Director, consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages is restricted to the Lounge, liquor laws of the State of Ohio, the city of Bowling Green, and Bowling Green State University are in effect at all times, alcoholic beverages may be served but may not be sold, and the contracting agent will be responsible for the removal of intoxicated and/or disorderly persons.

21. Individual skaters who wish to use the Studio Ice must pay at the Skate Shop prior to usage. Only four individual skaters are permitted on the Studio Ice at any given time. Larger groups are an exception and are required to contract the ice with the Ice Arena Director.

22. Open curling is intended for those who are knowledgeable about the game. Clean shoes are required and the curling stones must remain on the ice at all times.

23. Public Skating patrons must obey Skate Guards and posted rules. Skaters must pay at the Skate Shop and receive an admittance sticker before entering the ice. Carrying children, sitting on the boards, playing tag, etc. will not be tolerated.

The Ice Arena Director or Assistant Director may make exceptions to these rules. Any grievances should be submitted in writing to the BGSU Ice Arena Advisory Board.

Violators of the above policies and procedures (as well as general rules of appropriate behavior) may be warned; however, a serious offense or repeat offenses will result in loss of use privileges.

Policy violations, malicious use of defacing the Ice Arena property, solicitation, verbal abuse of employees or violation of other University policies will be investigated by the staff per procedures established by the University Student Code of Conduct. Sanctions, such as removal from the Ice Arena, revocation of privileges or referral to the Office of Judicial Affairs may be imposed. Non-students (faculty, staff, and community) may be prosecuted and/or privileges revoked.
