SENIOR LEAGUE SUMMER 2007 GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Specially for our former players, action from the Summer 2007 league is archived below.

A League - Danny Boys
B League - Ross Alumni

August 22 -- Turtles vs. Danny Boys (Final: 6-7)

The final game was a good one.  It looked to be a runaway for the Danny Boys in the second period.  The Turtles fought back to get within one but were unable to put away the tying goal. Danny Boys win the championship by a score of 7-6.

First Star: Jeff Archer, Second Star: Drew Wickard, Third Star: Ron Fogarty.

 


August 21 -- Ross Alumni vs.Ice Hogs (Final: 4-1)

The Ross Alumni capped off a stellar season to win the Summer League Championship on Tuesday night by defeating the Ice Hogs 4-1.  They were led by Brad Wendling's two goals and superb net-minding by Josh Kromer.

First Star: Eric Wendling, Second Star: Josh Krome, Third Star: Eric Crow

August 20 -- Ross Alumni vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 7-4)

The first goal was scored by the Ice Wolves with it looking to be a runaway.  After that Ross Alumni scored 6 unanswered goals to take a commanding lead.  Ice Wolves fought back scoring 3 goals but it wasn't enough.  Ross Alumni won 7-4.

First Star:  Doug Lee, Second Star:  Alex Binger, Third Star:  Eric Theller

August 20 --  Ice Hogs vs. Purple

Due to an ineligible player, the Purple team was forced to forfeit in the game that will infamously go down as "The Blackout".

August 15 --  Danny Boys vs.Doofers (Final: 7-4)

Two goals from both Jeff Archer and Dan Dewitt helped the Danny Boys win the semifinal playoff game for the A-League.  Goalie Ryan Thayer was superb, leading the Danny Boys to a 7-4 victory.

First Star:  Matt Fotenhauer, Second Star:  Adam Hoffman, Third Star:  Bobby Howard

August 14 -- Ice Hogs vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 4-4)

It was a slow game between the Ice Hogs and the Ice Wolves.  They went through the second period with no goals.  The third period was hard fought with the game ending in a 4-4 tie.

First Star:  Spencer Munger, Second Star:  Julie Konieczny, Third Star:  Kyle Miklas

August 14 -- Ross Alumni vs.Purple (Final: 7-2)

Ross Alumni took an early lead and never looked back.  They tallied 7 goals on route to a crushing victory over the Purple team.

First Star:  Jacob Pfotenhauer, Second Star:  Shane Durnwald, Third Star:  Adam Hoffman

August 13--  Ross Alumni vs.Ice Hogs (Final: 3-3)

Multiple penelties highlighted the chippy game between Ross Alumni and Ice Hogs.  Great goaltending at both ends led to a 3-3 tie.

August 8 -- Turtles vs.Doofers (Final: 10-6)

The game looked to be a run-away by the Turtles in the first period.  The second looked to be much of the same until the Doofers scored 3 unanswered goals putting themselves back in the game.  Both teams battled hard in the third period but the Turtles came out ahead for a 10-6 victory.

First Star:  Robby Yohe, Second Star:  Ian Poor, Third Star:  Alan Ludwig

August 7 Ross Alumni vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 9-2)

Ross Alumni dominated the game from the beginning.  Ross Alumni scored 5 goals in the first with the Ice Wolves only answering 1 goal.  The rest of the game was all Ross Alumni adding 4 goals to defeat the Ice Wolves 9-2.    

First Star:  Mike Sipsma, Second Star:  Mike Smith, Third Star:  Eric Theller--

August 7 -- Purple vs. Ice Hogs (Final: 7-4)

At the beginning of the game the Purple team got off to an early lead.  The second period was hard fought with the Purple team keeping the lead 3-1.  A fiesty 3rd period kept the game close but Purple kept the lead the whole time to take a 7-4 win.

August 2 --  Doofers vs.Danny Boys (Final: 11-9)

The Doofers won a very heated Wednesday night contest 11-9.  The game was very chippy featuring ten penalties.  Chris Matthews led the way with six goals for the Doofers.

First Star:  Chris Matthews, Second Star:  Ron Fogarty, Third Star:  Rob Tansel

July 31 -- Ice Hogs vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 10-4)

The Ice Wolves demolished the Ice Hogs on Tuesday night by a score of 10-4.  They were led by Chris Wobser's hat trick.

First Star:  Chris Wobser, Second Star:  Robby Shell, Third Star:  Blake Berryhill

July 31 -- Ross Alumni vs.Purple (Final: 3-3)

The Purple and Ross Alumni played to an exhilarating 3-3 tie on Tuesday night.  Mike Sipsma scored with under a minute left in the game to knot up the score.  Both goalies played outstandingly. 

First Star:  Mike Sipsma, Second Star:  Austin Wilhelm, Third Star:  Jeff Kindred

July 30 --  Danny Boys vs.Turtles (Final: 7-7)

Danny Boys started off quick out to a 3-0 lead at the beginning of the first.  With two goals from Andy Ruehl, the Turtles were back in it.  It was a hard fought 2nd period with the Danny Boys coming out in the lead.  The Turtles fought back to tie the game 7-7.  The game ended in a tie.

First Star:  Jeff Archer, Second Star:  Andy Ruehl, Third Star:  Dan DeWitt

July 25 -- Doofers  vs. Turtles (Final: 6-5)

The game started quick with the Turtles scoring two goals in the 1st.  After that the Doofers took over and scored five unanswered goals.  The Turtles mounted a comeback but it was not enough.  They were defeated in a 6-5 down to the wire finish.

First Star:  Chris Matthews, Second Star:  Drew Wickard, Third Star:  Rob Tansel

July 22 -- Danny Boys vs. Doofers (Final: 7-6)

The Danny Boys and Doofers played a Monday night thriller that was tied until the one minute mark!  Keith Williams again led the way for the Danny Boys scoring 5 goals.

First Star:  Keith Williams, Second Star:  Chris Matthews, Third Star:  Jeff Pendell

July 18 -- Turtles vs. Doofers (Final: 10-7)

The Turtles added an empty-netter to hold off the Doofers 10-7 in a very competitive Wednesday night game.  Veteran Andrew Otley led the way for the Turtles with eight points and Andy Ruehl chipped in with five to help secure the close victory.

First Star:  Andrew Otley, Second Star:  Andy Ruehl, Third Star:  Jake Rishel

July 17-- Purple vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 5-1)

The Ice Wolves came out firing in the first period scoring 3 goals which 2 were scored by Matt Hershey.  They added a goal in the 2nd taking a 4 goal lead into the 3rd.  They gave up 1 goal and added another for a 5-1 victory.

First Star:  Matt Hershey, Second Star:  Alex Binger, Third Star:  Jacob Mcafee

July 17 -- Ross Alumni vs. Ice Hogs (Final: 5-0)

The second game was dominated by Ross Alumni.  They had 5 unanswered goals with 2 of them being scored by Matt Fotenhauer.

First Star:  Matt Fotenhauer, Second Star:  Adam Hoffman, Third Star:  Bobby Howard

July 16--  Danny Boys vs.Turtles (Final: 10-3)

The Turtles could no hold on to an early lead as the Danny Boys rallied to win convincingly by a score of 10 to 3.  They were led by Jeff Pendell who recorded 4 goals and Keith Willaims who had 6 total points.

July 11-- Doofers vs. Danny Boys (Final: 6-2)

The game looked to be a runaway for the Doofers team when they had a 4-0 lead into the 3rd period.  With two quick goals by Jeff Archer, the Danny Boys were back in it.  That didn't last long when Rob Tansel and Brett Heringhaus each scored a goal to cap off the 6-2 victory.

First Star:  Rob Tansel, Second Star:  Jeff Archer, Third Star:  Brett Haringhaus

July 10 -- Ice Hogs vs. Purple (Final: 6-0)

The Ice Hogs jumped out to an early lead against Purple in an energetic Tuesday night game and never looked back.  Adam Joesph and Charles Zeehlander both had three points, leading the Ice Hogs to a convincing victory.

First Star:  Adam Joseph, Second Star:  Charles Zeehlander, Third Star:  Kyle Miklas

July 10 Ross Alumni vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 3-3)

The Ross Alumni and Ice Wolves played to a classic 3-3 tie on Tuesday night.  The Ross Alumni team scored with :06 seconds remaining in the game to ensure this one as a true classic.

First Star:  Andy Ruehl, Second Star:  Jeff Archer, Third Star:  Brady Frederick

July 9 -- Turtles vs.Danny Boys (Final: 10-6)

The Turtles and Danny Boys played a hard fought game with the Turtles taking the win.  It was a high scoring game with Jeff Arcer and Andy Ruehl both having a hat trick.  The teams played a clean game with only one penalty recorded in the 60 minutes.

First Star:  Andy Ruehl, Second Star:  Jeff Archer, Third Star:  Brady Frederick

July 3-- Ross Alumni vs.Purple (Final: 9-0)

The first B league game of the night was between Ross Alumni and Purple.  Ross Alumni came out firing, scoring a total of 9 goals to dominate the Purple team.  Brad Wendling, who was first star, scored a hat trick to help lead his team to victory.

First Star:  Brad Wendling, Second Star:  Jacob Pfotenhauer, Third Star:  Bobby Howard

July 3 -- Ice Hogs vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 5-1)

The second game of the night looked to be a close one.  In the second period the Ice Hogs broke open the game.  Taking a 2-1 lead and not looking back.  They ended up taking the win 5-1.

First Star:  Eric Crow, Second Star:  Jake Rishel, Third Star:  Spencer Munger

July 2 -- Turtles vs. Doofers (Final: 8-5 )

The Turtles edged out the Doofers in a close game last night 8-5.  They were led by Adam Crawford who recorded a hat-trick, and Andy Ruehl who chipped in a pair of goals.

First Star:  Adam Crawford, Second Star:  Andy Ruehl, Third Star:  Alan Ludwig

June 27 -- Doofers vs.Danny Boys (Final: 8-4)

The Doofers broke away in what was a close game as they went on to beat the Danny Boys in the season opener.

First Star:  Andy Hess, Second Star:  Jeff Archer, Third Star:  Chris Matthews

June 26 -- Purple vs. Ice Wolves (Final: 4-2)

The game started off really tight in the first two periods with the Ice Wolves leading 2-1.  In the third period the Purple team scored 3 unanswered goals to take the victory from the Ice Wolves.

First Star:  James Langel, Second Star:  Ethan Binger, Third Star:  Corey Arnold

June 26 -- Ross Alumni vs. Ice Hogs (Final: 6-2)

Ross Alumni took an early lead against the Ice Hogs and never looked back.  They were led by Eric Pheller's hat trick to begin the season.

First Star: Eric Pheller, Second Star: Patrick Halleck, Third Star: Bobby Howard
