This page features various skills that are developed during BGSU Ice Arena's Group Skating Lessons. Pictured below is a dip.
This skill is introduced at the very beginning level in Snowplow Sam 1 level and is reinforced in Snowplow Sam 2 with movement.
Skaters need to learn how to balance in the middle of the blade in order to perform a complete dip. This move is important
because it builds leg strength as well as flexibility of the hips, knees, and ankles. Sit spins, lunges, jump landings and
many other more difficult maneuvers will be made possible by the coordination and balance learned when practicing a dip.
Students in our classes have fun pretending to "drive cars" or to be "baby bunnies" while they are executing a dip. Check
back soon for more Group Skating Lesson pictures and fun!
