Bowling Green skaters, residents and visitors alike marvel at Scott's many accomplishments. At the Ice Arena, we are proud
to have helped Scott during his early years and to continue supporting his endeavors today.
For five consecutive years, a promotional event has been earmarked to benefit Scott Hamilton CARES. The entire BGSU community is also greatful, humbled and appreciative of Scott's support of the new Entrepreneurship Center within the College of Business Administration. On November 11, 2004, Scott was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma, a slow-growing, benign, non-cancerous brain tumor in the
region of the pituitary gland. Mr. Hamilton chose to treat his tumor with the Gamma Knife, a non-invasive radiosurgery designed
to provide with high accuracy a high dose of radiation to the tumor. The procedure was performed at The Cleveland Clinic by
Gene H. Barnett, M.D., neurosurgeon and chairman of the Clinic's Brain Tumor Institute. On Feb. 17, Mr. Hamilton had a follow-up
visit at The Cleveland Clinic to determine the effectiveness of his treatment. " Mr. Hamilton's tumor is responding favorably
to treatment," Dr. Barnett said. "The Gamma Knife appears to have destroyed the solid portion of the tumor. We are continuing
to monitor a cyst, or pocket of fluid, within the tumor. If this fluid does not absorb naturally, it will need to be drained.
We will evaluate the situation again in a couple of months. For now, Mr. Hamilton is doing well."
