GROUP EXERCISE

A balanced mix of cardiovascular, strength and flexibility classes help move you on a fitness continuum to optimal health. Classes have been grouped into three areas and participants are encouraged to select a variety of classes to meet their needs and schedule.

The Group Exercise Pass for Fall 2008 costs $30 and includes unlimited access to all group exercise classes including spinning, yoga, pilates and abs.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Ab-Solute 30
With a combination of crunches, lifts, twists, and “crunch-less” exercises this class will strengthen and tone your midsection while providing stability exercises for a total core-training workout! Crunch it into your busy schedule a couple times per week and mix it with some cardio to get results that you will be ab-solutely crazy about!

AeroSpin 45
This is a high energy spinning class. The format will take you through climbs, jumps, and sprints while the instructor motivates you to keep going.

Spin/Abs
The workout that revolves around YOU! This 45-minute indoor cycling class will take you on a ride through the flat-lands to the mountain-tops!  Whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider, this thrilling workout is sure to have you spinnin’ (not to mention sweating)!  We will take you for a ride that you won’t forget.  We will round it up with abdominal exercise for the last 15 minutes of the class.

AquaFit
A virtual weight room where every muscle and every joint can be strengthened…you’re sweating and burning calories…all without any impact on your joints.  A non-weight bearing WET workout using dumbbells, noodles, and kickboards. Think you can’t sweat in 25-degree water?...Bring it on!

Bootcamp 45
Are you ready to sweat?  This 45-minute high intensity conditioning class will whip you into shape, army style!  The challenge will emphasize speed, power, agility, endurance, and strength while keeping your heart rate revved.  Each class will be uniquely designed to create a fun and energetic environment.

Funk Fusion
Learn the newest hip hop moves in this dance-based class. The format incorporates exciting music and high energy movements to raise the metabolism and burn calories.

Sculpt 45
A total body sculpting workout in only 45 minutes! Great for beginners and awesome for those at a weightlifting plateau!  Tune in and tone up during your lunch break or after work.

Spin-Core
This class include all the great benefits of Spin and more!  After bringing your heart rate down and stretching out from an indoor cycling class for 45 minutes, we then will move to a 15 minute core workout. This will include engaging the abdominal muscles, lower and upper with a few targeted moves. It will also include stretching the lower back as well.

Step-Core
Step 45 class geared toward those who step their way through a lunch break. Add some hips, hops, and all around spunk and what you get is a terrific cardiovascular workout. This class offers both high and low intensity moves, so mix and match and have a blast! We teach a powerful 30-minute step routine with a 15-minute core workout so you can get that heart rate pumping and those abs burning!! Get an awesome step/abs workout in only 45 minutes. Satisfaction guaranteed!

TurboKick
Pick up the pace with an exciting kickbox class. Learn how to punch, jab and kick and burn off steam in the process. This is a high intensity course that is a great workout!

Pilates 45
Using your core and stability this 45-minute class focuses on toning and elongating the muscles to look lean and firm. Pilates exercises require absolute muscle control to both guard against injury and to achieve full functional benefit from each movement. Each movement has purpose and each repetition of an exercise is of high quality, so favorable muscle patterning will become second nature.  Focus is on quality of movement, not quantity.  Focus on performing the exercise to engage each muscle group.

PiYo45
This class is a blend of Pilates and Yoga to offer a range of modifications for those looking to do a little bit of both exercise formats. Each movement will flow into the next series of moves to give those muscles a lean flexible figure.

Yoga 45
Stretches and postures are taught and performed to increase your body’s range of motion, flexibility, and sense of balance. Concentration is on “you” with instruction on proper breathing to relax your mind, body, and spirit. 

NORDIC WALKING

Nordic walking uses two specially designed poles to work the upper body while walking.  Like cross country skiing, the poles are used by the arms to match each step the person takes.

Nordic walking works the arms, shoulders, and upper chest and back muscles through a full range of motion; stretching and lengthening muscles which are often tight.  The motion works to overcome the hunching forward that many adopt while working at desks, computers, reading, or watching television.  Poles can be rented from the BGSU Student Recreation Center.
