Dealing with Trigger Events

Description: This is an opportunity for leaders to recognize trigger events that often occur during discourse of multicultural issues. Recognizing trigger events can be the difference between building trust and weakening the ties one has with their community.

Description: Our world is in desperate need for green leaders, with a working understanding of how to incorporate basic sustainability principles into their organization's daily activities. Motivating and Validating Others: The Art of Encouraging the Heart

Description: Encouragement matters. Encouraging leadership can increase productivity, decrease absenteeism, build relationships, and validate the contributions of others. This interactive workshop is designed to explore the seven essentials of encouraging. Examples of simple, yet effective ways to encourage will be provided. Participants will also walk away with an encouragement implementation plan.

Moral and Ethical Decision Making

Description: What makes any given decision an ethical decision? The problem with ethics is that what may seem morally right (ethical) to one person may seem inappropriate to another. Moral and ethical leadership is about knowing your core values and having the courage to live them in all parts of your life. During this workshop, we will discuss the value of ethical leadership and learn techniques to help us handle ethical dilemmas.

Collaboration, Controversy, Delegation, and Change

Description: Using the foundation of the Social Change Model, this workshop discusses group dynamics. We will discuss ways to further collaborate, enhance communication within an organization, conveying a clear common purpose, and using controversy (disagreements) as a part of the process for the growth of the organization. Through this, the delegation of tasks to obtain common goal and dealing with change will also be discussed. The workshop will review Kouzes and Posner's 5 Practices for Exemplary Leadership.

Description: For leaders, how you treat yourself is just as important as how you treat others. This session will be an opportunity for student leaders to take a step back and focus on how they can be great leaders and still maintain healthy balance. Participants will also create a plan and/or set of goals to strive toward maintaining healthy leadership in their lifestyle.

Nach-yo Disability: Learning and Leading with Inclusivity in Mind

Description: Disabilities have not been a widely discussed topic on campus. Participants who attend this program will learn about a few disabilities and learn about appropriate language and interaction etiquette when discussing and working with people who have disabilities. When it is Nach-yo disability, it IS your responsibility to learn and know about visible and invisible conditions that impact your peers and community members. Managing Presentation Anxiety

Description: This workshop will explore what causes the different types of anxiety caused by presenting in front of groups. After the causes are understood, clear and simple tools for managing anxiety will be learned. These tools will then be applied under simulated stress in order to give participants access to these tools when they need them.
