| A Peer Education Program by Women, for Women
After seeing the success of Men Educating Men on the Prevention of Sexual Assault the benefits of single-sex rape education
were brought to the female members of the BGSU community through the Sexual Assault Information Network (SAIN), the women
only companion group to MEMPSA. The program made its debut during the Spring 2000 semester.
SAIN peer educators are undergraduate and graduate women who have been recruited and trained to present a women-only educational
program. This program focuses on general sexual assault awareness information, how to support a friend, and response suggestions
for victims/survivors. they meet with many groups on campus, including residence halls, sororities, student organizations
and clubs.
Goals of the Program Include:
- General Sexual Assault Awareness Information
- Risk Reduction and Communication Strategies
- Response Suggestions for Friends of Victims/Survivors
What SAIN Peer Educators Have to Say...
"I would tell anyone interested in joining SAIN that is is a great opportunity. You have the chance to work with people whose
lives you could possibly change. You have an effect on the way they go about their relationships and their view of sexual
assault. It's a great way to feel like you are doing your part to make life that much safer." Lyndsey Anderson member
"I have wanted to learn the truth about assault. I also wanted to break the stereotypes that other people associate with
assault and being a part of SAIN lets me do this. I enjoy the program so much because there are great people involved who
honestly are passionate about the subject and spreading the knowledge about others." Colleen Chambers member
