Is your class or organization looking for a program?

Health education programs and services are provided on general wellness issues, nutrition, alcohol, sexual health and sexual assault. A variety of programs are available on each topic. The exciting, interactive programs are presented by health professionals and peer educators. "Canned" presentations or presentations tailored for your organization are available.

There will be a maximum of Three (3) presentations scheduled for each date.  Presentations are approximately 50 to 60 minutes long. To request a presentation, please go to the presentation calendar for date availability. No Presentation requests will be accepted for the first week of classes, the last week of classes, during exam week or university holidays.  Note: please understand that all presentations requested for Tuesday evenings need to end NO later than 6:30 pm due to Bacchus Gamma, HYPE and SAIN & MEMPSA meetings that are held each Tuesday evening.  A minimum of two weeks notice is required to schedule a presentation. Please indicate when submitting a request  if the presentation is a general request for information or if it is in response to an incident (i.e., sexual assault, alcohol poisoning, etc.) within the class, organization or residence hall. If it is in response to an incident, the two week notice may be waived.

Nutrition

4-5-6-8 Moderate! : Interactive program incorporates general nutrition information with healthy eating habits while playing Bingo and Pictionary.

4-5-6-8 Moderate On-Campus : This interactive program incorporates general nutrition information with healthy eating habits in college, options on-campus, and eating on the run.

Alcohol

What's Your Flavor? : This program will explore the different types of drinks out there and the effects they will have on your body. This program will also provide interactive activities that explore media and peer influences on alcohol consumption.

Fatal Vision : This interactive presentation combines the components of our General Alcohol Presentation with our Fatal Vision or "beer goggles" to demonstrate visual impairment from alcohol consumption. The presentation focuses on responsible decision-making and legal consequences of alcohol.

Sexual Assault & Sexual Health

HIV/AIDS: This program combines the Safer Sex Program with HIV/AIDS specific information. This program also includes some new activities demonstrating the dangers of risky sexual activity.

SOS: Safer Oral Sex Program explains the risks of contracting an STI and how to reduce risks.

Infection Protection - Safer Sex Program: The program incorporates STI/HIV glove activity demonstration in order to address the transmission of sexually transmitted infections. An STI/HIV behavior risk activity is also offered in order to address what behaviors can contribute to contracting an STI and what activities have lower risks. A "condom tricks" activity is used to demonstrate what barrier protections are available and the proper way to use them along with common myths and facts related to barrier protection.

Sex-Tac-Toe : This program is an interactive game that allows students to learn more about various sexually transmitted infections.

SAIN (Sexual Assault Information Network): Women peer educators present to an audience of all women on the issue of sexual assault.  The program includes the discussion of general sexual assault awareness information, risk reduction, communication strategies, and response suggestions for friends of victims/survivors.

MEMPSA (Men Educating Men on the Prevention of Sexual Assault): Men explore the definition of sexual assault and its consequences and how men can prevent sexual assault.

SAIN/MEMPSA Combined:  Sexual assault peer educators have designed an interactive presentation for an audience comprised of all genders. The program includes the exploration of the definition of sexual assault, communication strategies, gender roles, myths and facts, and response suggestions for friends or victims/survivors.

Healthy Relationships: Learn about what constitutes a healthy relationship! Whether or not you have a significant other, this program will provide valuable information for both men and women.

Other Health Topics

Stress Survival: This program identifies different types of stress affecting college students. In addition, the presenters offer coping strategies for stress as well as identify long-term health risks associated with stress.

I Am Me: Encourages discussion of body image and how it relates to the media, cultural standards of beauty, and the dieting industry.

Handwashing: Interactive program designed to educate students on how easy germs are spread & ways to prevent spreading these germs.  Program includes using black light in bathrooms with glow in the dark lotion.

Meet UR X-Factor: This interactive program is a guide to meeting your exercise needs and learning how to make it fun! Through engaging activities such as stretching charades, physical activity pyramid, and muscle group trivia, the program teaches the difference between physical activity and exercise requirements and provides the tools necessary to set up your own exercise program.

Presentations facilitated by professional staff from the Wellness Connection and Student Health Service are available on request. A member of the professional staff will contact you to assist you in developing a presentation that meets your class or organizations needs. Specific presentations offered by staff are on:
