ADVANCED DIRECTIVE PROTOCOL

The Student Health Service recognizes the basic human rights of its patients.  All patients are treated with respect, consideration and dignity.  If an individual has an Advanced Directive that expresses the patient’s wish that in the event they are in a terminal condition, the patient refuses treatment that would prolong their life, the medical staff of the Student Health Service will honor the patient’s wishes and follow the Advanced Directive.

The Student Health Service will maintain a written record with a copy of the Advanced Directive in the patient’s chart.  The patient may verbally consent to full treatment at any time if they change their wishes and express them to the medical staff.
