Chapter Excellence Judging Scoring Sheet
Below is the application for Chapter Excellence. Unless noted otherwise, points are awarded on an all or nothing basis, meaning
that partial points are not given for meeting some of the criteria.
Scholarship (20 points)
1. Spring Semester GPA
3.30 and higher = 5 points
3.15 to 3.29 = 4 points
3.00 to 3.14 = 3 points
2.85 to 2.99 = 2 points
2.70 to 2.84 = 1 point
2. Fall Semester GPA
3.30 and higher = 5 points
3.15 to 3.29 = 4 points
3.00 to 3.14 = 3 points
2.85 to 2.99 = 2 points
2.70 to 2.84 = 1 point
3. Spring Semester GPA above All-Greek GPA = 1 point
4. Fall Semester GPA above All-Greek GPA = 1 point
5. Spring Semester GPA above All-Undergraduate GPA = 1 point
6. Fall Semester GPA above All-Undergraduate GPA = 1 point
7. Chapter dedicates at least 10 percent of its budget for scholarship programming and/or academic incentives =
1 point*
8. Chapter has a minimum GPA standard of at least 2.50 to hold office = 1 point*
9. Chapter has a minimum GPA standard of at least 2.50 to join chapter = 1 point*
10. Chapter has a minimum GPA standard of at least 2.50 to participate in social events = 1 point*
11. Chapter has an elected officer whose primary responsibility is scholarship = 1 point*
12. Chapter has a scholarship program for members below a 2.50 GPA = 1 point*
Growth (Recruitment/Intake/Retention) (20 points)
1. Chapter Growth
Category 1 (Chapters who have a recruitment process)
35 or more new members (annually) = 10 points
30 to 34 new members (annually) = 8 points
25 to 34 new members (annually) = 6 points
20 to 24 new members (annually) = 4 points
15 to 19 new members (annually) = 2 points
** Chapter at 85 or more total members will automatically get 10 points
Category 2 (Chapters who have an intake process)
12 or more new members (annually) = 10 points
10 or 11 new members (annually) = 8 points
8 or 9 new members (annually) = 6 points
6 or 7 new members (annually) = 4 points
4 or 5 new members (annually) = 2 points
2. Chapter Retention
95 percent or higher retention of new members = 5 points
90 to 94 percent retention of new members = 4 points
85 to 89 percent retention of new members = 3 points
80 to 84 percent retention of new members = 2 points
75 to 79 percent retention of new members = 1 point
3. Chapter has a “names list” at least twice the size of the current chapter size = 2 points*
4. Chapter has an incentive program to reward individuals for contributing to the growth of the chapter = 1 point*
5. Chapter held or attended a recruitment/growth workshop presented by an outside presenter in which at least 80 percent of
the chapter was present in the spring semester = 1 point*

Leadership Development (15 points)
1. The chapter sent all of the required officers (no proxies) to the January leadership retreat = 2 points
2. The chapter sent all of the required officers (no proxies) to the August Leadership retreat = 2 points
3. The chapter sent two representatives to Emerging Leaders = 2 points
4. The chapter sent members to Leadership Academy in February = 1 point
5. The chapter sent members to Leadershape, UIFI, or the equivalent = 2 points*

Membership Education (10 points)
1. New Member Orientation
95 percent or more of new members attended = 3 points
85 to 94 percent of new members attended = 2points
75 to 84 percent of new members attended = 1 point
2. The chapter has a specific scholarship program for new members that is beyond study tables = 1 point*
3. The chapter dedicates at least one new member meeting/semester for scholarship programming = 1 point*
4. The chapter dedicates at least one new member meeting/semester to campus involvement opportunities = 1 point*
5. The chapter dedicates at least one new member meeting/semester to risk management and hazing = 1 point*
6. The chapter dedicates at least one new member meeting/semester to teaching new members how to acquire new members = 1 point*
7. The chapter participates in the New Member Greek Council = 1 point
Community Service (5 points)
1. Service Hours
Chapter averages 30 or more hours of service per member = 2 points
Chapter averages at least 20 or more hours of service per member = 1 point

Chapter participates in at least six service projects annually in which at least 50 percent of the chapter volunteers
= 3 points
Chapter participates in four or five service projects annually in which at least 50 percent of the chapter volunteers

Philanthropy (5 points)
1. Dollars Raised for Charity
Chapter averages at least $30 raised for charity per member = 2 points
Chapter averages at least $20 raised for charity per member = 1 point
2. Chapter hosts a philanthropy in which other chapters/organizations compete = 1 point
3. Chapter places (1st, 2nd or 3rd) in at least one philanthropy = 1 point
4. Chapters competes in at least 50 percent of the philanthropies sponsored by fraternities and sororities = 1 point
Campus Involvement (5 points)
1. Involvement
Chapter has at least 80 percent of its members involved in another registered student organization = 3 points
Chapter has between 70 and 79 percent of its members involved in another registered student organization = 2 points
Chapter has between 60 and 60 percent of its members involved in another registered student organization = 1 point
2. Chapter has at least one member serving as an RA, Smart Mentor, UNIV 100 Peer Facilitator or Orientation Leader = 1point
3. Chapter has at least one member serving on the Executive Board of a registered student organization or ex-officio group
= 1 point*
Greek Community Involvement (5 points)
1. Chapter participates in Greek Week = 1 points
2. Chapter has at least one member on their council executive board or cabinet = 1 point
3. Chapter has at least one representative on any of the following: Go Greek Team, Greek Leadership Team, Greek Housing Board,
Order of Omega Executive Board, GAMMA, Green Greeks, Gamma Sigma Alpha Executive Board or Greek Week Steering Committee =
1 point
4. Chapter had 100 percent (all required attendees) attendance at all of their council meetings = 1 point
Standards (5 points)
1. Chapter is in good standing with their (inter)national organization = 1 point*
2. Chapter was not found responsible of violating any policy by their council judicial board = 1 points
3. Chapter attends/hosts at least one risk management workshop/semester in which at least 80 percent of the membership is
in attendance = 1 point
4. Chapter has a functional standards board trained by their advisor, national representative, or a representative from Greek
Affairs or the Dean of Students office = 1 point*
5. Chapter sent representatives to the spring and fall risk management training = 1 point
Alumni/Parent Relations (3 points)
1. Chapter has alumni events during Homecoming = 1 point*
2. Chapter has events for parents/families during Family Weekend = 1 point*
3. Chapter produces newsletter for parents semesterly = 1 point*
Housing (3 points)
1. Chapter had no vacancies in the chapter house = 1 point
2. Chapter had no damage billings = 1 point
3. Chapter has a cook or catered meal program = 1 point
Ritual (2 points)
1. Chapter performs its national ritualistic ceremony for graduating seniors = 1 point*
2. Chapter performs its national ritualistic ceremony to install new officers = 1 point*
Finances (2 points)
1. Chapter is in good standing with their governing council = 1 point
2. Chapter is in good standing with BGSU and Greek Affairs = 1 point
Programming (2 points)
1. The chapter attends/hosts a program with the focus on diversity awareness/social justice in which at least 80 percent
of the chapter attends = 1 point*
2. The chapter attends/hosts a program with the focus on health and wellness in which at least 80 percent of the chapter attends
= 1 point*
