BGSU Chapter Excellence Award

The Chapter Excellence Award is the highest honor a chapter can earn at BGSU.  This coveted award is given annually to one fraternity and one sorority who have scored the highest on the Chapter Excellence Application.

Scoring mechanism:

Chapter Excellence: Awarded to the fraternity and sorority with the most points on the application.

Gold Level: Awarded to any fraternity or sorority earning at least 90 percent of the available points on the application.

Silver Level: Awarded to any fraternity or sorority earning at least 80 percent of the available points on the application.

Bronze Level: Awarded to any fraternity or sorority earning at least 70 percent of the available points on the application.

Most Improved: Awarded to the fraternity and sorority with the most improvement in points from the following year.

Application process:

The chapter should review the application monthly and begin preparing responses to the questions and collecting supporting documentation.

The Chapter Excellence packet may be submitted this year either electronically or through a presentation with a panel of judges.

If a chapter elects to do a presentation, the chapter will schedule a presentation time during the scheduled time period to present the chapter’s application, offer supporting documentation, and answer clarifying questions.   A presentation is highly encouraged as it provides the chapter the opportunity for immediate feedback and gives the judges an opportunity to ask clarifying questions.

The 2009 Fall Semester Greek Report will include the scores for all chapters submitting the Chapter Excellence application.  Beginning in 2010, all chapters will be required to submit a Chapter Excellence packet as part of an ongoing assessment and accreditation process.  Starting with the 2010 application, all chapters should achieve at least 50% of the possible points; 55% of the possible points in 2011, with the ultimate goal of having every chapter achieve at least 60% of the possible points with the 2012 application.  Chapters not achieving the minimum standard of points will participate in a chapter assistance program developed by Greek Affairs, their governing council, and their (inter)national organization.
