Greek Facts

  • 56% of Greek members are involved in at least one other student organization.
  • The Greek community has one historically Latino fraternity and one historically Latina sorority.
  • Seven of the nine historically African-American fraternities and sororities are at BGSU.
  • Greek GPA above non-Greek GPA
  • Fraternities and sororities provide members with great networking opportunities with alumni and opportunities to get involved on campus.
  • Greek Affairs spends nearly $10,667 to promote scholarship in the Greek community.
  • The Greek Community hosts three honor societies for Greeks: Order of Omega, Gamma Sigma Alpha and Rho Lambda.
  • Some fraternities/sororities offer payment plans to help pay dues; incentives to reduce dues; scholarships to pay for dues.
  • Fraternities and sororities have national charities that members raise money for and volunteer with.  Over 49,108 hours of hands-on service was performed by Greek members last year.
  • Over $54,891 was raised for charity last year by the Greek community.

Mission Statement

Building a premier Fraternity and Sorority Community in North America utilizing continuous improvement that provides the following:

  1. A quality undergraduate residential experience for the housed fraternities and sororities.

  2. A complete quality undergraduate fraternity and sorority experience that builds community among all Greeks and that emphasizes our founding principles of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Brotherhood/Sisterhood.

  3. A commitment to furthering the Greek Advising profession through a quality graduate preparatory experience, research, conference attendance and presentation and national leadership.
