OrgSync Project

The Office of Campus Activities has partnered with a company called OrgSync to offer new online features to our student organizations. The OrgSync product is a collaborative portal (think Facebook & Blackboard combined) specifically designed to help student organization collaborate and communicate. Some organizations currently use Blackboard Communities for share information; this system will offer the same functionality and much more.

We are planning to roll out OrgSync for all BGSU student organizations starting in Fall of 2009. Organization leaders will begin using the system toward the end of the Spring 2009 semester. OrgSync will also be used by OCA for filling out online forms and communicating information about your organization.

How can I learn more about OrgSync?

OCA will be offering training sessions and materials as the implimentation process continues. Check back for more information about training from our office. In the meantime, you can visit the OrgSync website at http://orgsync.com/ to see an overview of the system.

Will our organization have to use OrgSync? Will we lose our Blackboard community space?

Every organization will have a shell within OrgSync and certain things will need to be done within your shell. However, it will be up to your organization leaders to decide what features to use above and beyond those requirements. While OrgSync can replace your BlackBoard community and we encourage that you migrate to the new system, you will not lose your BlackBoard community space.

What if we want to use OrgSync before Fall of 2009?

A limited number of organizations will begin using OrgSync during the Spring 2009 semester. During this semester, functionality and support will be limited and we will request regular feedback from these "pilot" organizations. To express interest in using OrgSync during the Spring semester, contact the Office of Campus Activities at involved@bgsu.edu or 372-2343. Requests to join the early testing program will be reviewed on case-by-case basis.
