The provided learning outcomes and certification criteria will help you determine whether you have successfully completed
any given competency domain. Based on the evidence you have compiled, your mentor should be able to determine whether he or
she believes you have fulfilled the requirements of a particular phase. Make sure that the evidence you submit to the Certification
Committee demonstrates your understanding of each of the leadership competencies and provides examples of times that you have
practiced each competency. The standards of evidence listed below will help you to compile evidence that meets the expectations of the Certification Committee. However, the presentation
and format of the evidence are limited only by your own creativity. There is no model as to how this should be done!
Standards of Evidence
The following criteria should be considered as you work to develop evidence of learning in each of the competency domains:
The evidence should generate a reasonable workload for the student as well as the Certification Committee.
The evidence should be understandable by someone who was not present when the learning took place and is not familiar with
the context of the learning.
A blend of written and oral evidence is preferred.
Whenever possible, evidence for an individual competency should demonstrate the integration of theory and practice.
Each of the nine competencies must be demonstrated with separate pieces of evidence. For example, one activity might provide
learning across several competencies but the evidence documenting this learning must be submitted separately, competency by
competency.
The evidence must clearly address each of the certification requirements.
