The Office of Campus Activities provides opportunities for students, their parents, and families to become involved in and connected to Bowling Green State
University. From admission through graduation, the office is a source of meaningful co-curricular experiences. Through programs
and services the college experience is enriched, the University Core Values are promoted, personal growth and development
are facilitated, and the educational mission of the University is supported.
Staff:
Dr. Jeffrey H. Coats Associate Dean of Students Dr. Coats serves as the Associate Dean of Students at Bowling Green State University. As the Associate Dean of Students he
is responsible for the administration of Campus Activities which includes Parent and Family programs, Leadership Programs,
Student Organization Services, the University Activities Organization, Community Service Programs, Major Events, Student Involvement
Awards and Recognition Programs, Co-chairing the University Homecoming Executive Committee, Assessment of Student Programs
and Services, managing budgets of $1.8 million dollars. Prior to coming to Bowling Green, Dr. Coats was the Associate Director
of Student Leadership and Programs at Auburn University.
While at Auburn University, Dr. Coats worked in a variety of capacities in Student Affairs. In addition to working at Auburn,
he graduated with a master's degree in Administration of Higher Education and a bachelor's degree in History from Auburn University.
In 2003, he received his doctorate in Administration of Higher Education.
Denny Bubrig Assistant Dean of Students Denny is in his 10th year in the higher education field all in Student Affairs based areas. An active member of the Southern
Association of College Student Affairs (SACSA), the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA); he currently serves
the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) as the National Chair for the Student Leadership Programs
Knowledge Community and works with the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA) Conference planning committee in preparation
for their National meeting. Denny has served as a workshop presenter for numerous conferences and schools including NACA
regional and national conferences, the AFA National meeting, Regional fraternity/sorority conferences, and several schools
throughout the southeast. Denny also volunteers for his national fraternity as an alcohol education facilitator and risk
management educator. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, skiing, sports and watching college athletics. He is set to
receive a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama later this year.
Susan Pelo Program Coordinator for Major Events Sue, as an alumna of BGSU, is thrilled to be back working and living within the community. As the Program Coordinator for
Major Events, she is responsible for the advising, direction, leadership, and implementation of such events as; Homecoming
Steering, Family Weekend, Parent and Family Programs, Who's Who Among American College Students, Sibs-N-Kids Weekend, Gregory
T. DeCrane Applauding Excellence Awards Banquet, and Summer Programs. In addition, Sue volunteers as an advisor for her national
sorority, both in Ohio and in New York. Sue received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hartwick College and
her Master of Arts in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. Prior to her current position, Sue serviced
as the Director of Greek LIfe and Leadership at Otterbein College.
In her spare time, Sue enjoys the summer months with an abundance of boating, swimming, jet skiing and water skiing. As a
past college athlete, she holds a true passion for athletics and maintains her involvement with competitive swimming through
the BGSU Masters Swim Team. When available, she volunteers as a swim coach with the local YMCA. As a native of New York,
she misses New York subs, the Yankees, and major winter snowstorms for great skiing conditions!! Yet, she has come to appreciate
the simplicity of the mid-west and has found a new home in the surrounding areas.
Marie Feehan Events Secretary Marie is in her 22nd year at BGSU. She has worked at the University Bookstore, Office of Residence Life, Office of Student
Life, and for the past seven years a part of the staff in the Office of Campus Activities. Her hobbies include reading, biking
and spending time with her family.
Sue Houtz Budget Secretary Sue is in her 22nd year at Bowling Green State University. She has worked in many different positions/offices on campus.
The last three years she joined the Office of Campus Activities. Her hobbies include reading, embroidery, and spending time
with her friends and family.
Kacee Snyder Graduate Assistant Kacee is a first year doctoral student in Bowling Green State University's Higher Education Administration program. This
year she will serve as the graduate assistant working with leadership programs, including piloting OCA's L.E.A.D. Program.
Kacee graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Journalism and a master's in College Student Personnel from
BGSU. After graduation from the CSP program, she worked at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne in career services
as the assistant director and did career counseling and served as the employer relations coordinator. She also is on the
directorate for ACPA's Commission for Career Development and is a qualified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator interpreter. In her
free time, she likes to spend time with her new husband, bake cookies, and read. She is a native of Bowling Green, OH and
is excited to be living back in her hometown!
Becky Hughes Graduate Assistant Becky earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations at Illinois State University. As an undergraduate student, Becky
was involved with WZND, Illinois State's student-run radio station, Orientation Programs and the University Program Board.
Among her involvements, she was named Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities in 2005 and Homecoming
Queen in 2007. Becky is a first year graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel.
Michael Kruse Graduate Assistant Michael recently received his undergraduate degree in accounting from BGSU and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in
the MAcc program. During his undergrad at BGSU, he was a member of the Club Baseball team for all 4 years and was their treasurer
for the last year. In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching a wide variety of sporting events and spending time
with friends and family.
Shaun Parker Graduate Assistant Shaun graduated in May 2007 from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with
a specialization in Accounting. While at BGSU, Shaun was a Founding Father and member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. In
the summer between his junior and senior year, Shaun completed an internship with Deloitte & Touche, L.L.P. in Cleveland.
During his free time, he enjoys playing golf and following Cleveland sports.
He is currently a graduate student here at BGSU in the Masters of Accountancy program specializing in Information Systems
Auditing and Control, and works as a Financial Consultant in the Office of Campus Activities. Upon completion of the Masters
program, Shaun will work as a staff auditor for Deloitte & Touche, L.L.P. in their Cleveland office.
Adam Lenin Graduate Assistant Adam is beginning his first year as a Graduate Assistant working in the Office of Campus Activities as a Financial Consultant.
He is from Euclid, OH which is a suburb of Cleveland and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from BGSU. He is currently
pursuing his Masters in Accounting at BGSU. He enjoys all Cleveland sports as well as playing poker. Other hobbies include
golfing, running and spending time with friends.
