Panhellenic Council Sororities
Formal recruitment takes place at the beginning of every fall semester - specific dates and details will be released shortly. During the formal process, women who are interested in joining a sorority will visit with members of each chapter during the course of a extended weekend over the course of 4-5 days to determine which chapter offers best fit. Throughout the mutual selection process women will be invited to 13 chapters for an open house. Additional invitations will follow and potential members will have the opportunity to visit again with 10 chapters (second round), 7 chapters (third round), and 3 chapters (preference round). At the conclusion of the formal recruitment process potential members have the opportunity to accept an invitation for membership (bid) from one sorority on campus.
Upperclassman interested in joining a sorority before the start of formal recruitment have the opportunity to participate in pre-formal recruitment. Only potential women who have completed 12 credit hours at BGSU are eligible to participate. During this brief process, chapters will hold events and offer invitations for membership (bids) at their own accord.
Should pre-formal or formal recruitment not interest you and you're still interested in joining a Panhellenic sorority, please consider open recruitment. Numerous opportunities become available throughout the course of the academic year. While not all Panhellenic sororities participate in open recruitment, those that are eligible will hold open house events and ultimately offer invitations for membership on a schedule that best meets their needs.

Interfraternity Council Fraternities
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) participates in two different styles of recruitment during the academic school year. During the first week of school in the fall, IFC partakes in a formalized process known as "Legacy Week". This gives prospective members the opportunity to visit all 17 fraternities and learn more about our Greek community, with the possibility of joining one at the completion of the week. After "Legacy Week", the 16 organizations in IFC execute an informal recruitment method, allowing individual chapters to recruit members on their own schedule.
Use our interest form to request more information about IFC recruitment.
National Pan-Hellenic Council Sororities and Fraternities
Chapters within the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) conduct membership intake. At the beginning of each semester, NPHC hosts "Meet the Greeks," which is an open forum for interested individuals to acquire information about the different NPHC fraternities and sororities represented at BGSU. Once interested individuals have decided which organization they would like to join, they should acquire information about the specific membership intake process of that organization because each process varies. Most NPHC chapters have designated weeks throughout the year where educational and social programming occur. Students interested in joining a NPHC group are encouraged to attend the events to learn about the chapters.
Multicultural Greek Council Fraternities and Sororities
There are several ways you can join a chapter within the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) at BGSU. Most organizations hold open recruitment events throughout each semester at its members' discretion and will offer invitations for membership accordingly. Other organizations within MGC conduct membership intake. Regardless of the process, please be on the lookout each semester for information regarding informational sessions, tabling, and other opportunities to get involved and learn more about these organizations.
