How to Join

Panhellenic Council Sororities

2013 Fall Sorority Recruitment: Sept. 6-8 & 13-15

During formal recruitment, women will have the opportunity to visit with members of each sorority during the course of two weekends to determine which chapter offers the best fit.  Women will begin by visiting all thirteen Panhellenic sororities and, through a mutual selection process, will eventually have narrowed down to three sororities before being matched with a sorority on the final day of recruitment. It is an exciting, emotional, and life-changing experience and, we cannot wait for you to find your place in our sisterhood.

Interfraternity Council Fraternities

Formal recruitment is the primary way to join a fraternity in the Fall.  It is a step by step process that allows each participant the ability to see all 15 BG fraternities first-hand. The fraternities actually come to you! August 26th begins the opening week events for Formal Recruitment. This first week will be filled with events where you can talk to members of different fraternities and get a feel for how the system truly works.

August 28th is the first Interest Session. These general sessions will last about 30 minutes. You will be walked through how the recruitment process goes and what it means to be in a fraternity. It is MANDATORY to attend at least one (1) info session to get a full understanding of Greek life.

National Pan-Hellenic Council Sororities and Fraternities

Chapters within the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) conduct membership intake. At the beginning of each semester, NPHC hosts "Meet the Greeks," which is an open forum for interested individuals to acquire information about the different NPHC fraternities and sororities represented at BGSU. Once interested individuals have decided which organization they would like to join, they should acquire information about the specific membership intake process of that organization because each process varies. Most NPHC chapters have designated weeks throughout the year where educational and social programming occur. Students interested in joining a NPHC group are encouraged to attend the events to learn about the chapters.

Multicultural Greek Council Fraternities and Sororities

There are several ways you can join a chapter within the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) at BGSU. Most organizations hold open recruitment events throughout each semester at its members' discretion and will offer invitations for membership accordingly. Other organizations within MGC conduct membership intake. Regardless of the process, please be on the lookout each semester for information regarding informational sessions, tabling, and other opportunities to get involved and learn more about these organizations.
