With a college experience full of academics, involvements, and other priorities, time management skills become essential in order to be a successful student. Building Relationships with Professors
Interaction with your professors and other faculty is related to increased academic performance. Consult your course syllabi for your professors' office hours and make an effort to visit them if you have questions or to get to know your faculty outside of the classroom setting. All professors are required to hold office hours.
   
Choosing a Major
Consult with your academic advisor for assistance in choosing an undergraduate college and major. The Office of Academic Enhancement focuses on assisting students who are undecided about their major by providing advising, major fairs, and additional resources.

The Writers Lab serves as a valuable resource to enhance skills at all stages of the writing process. Visit this office to view writing resources and make an appointment with a writing consultant for assistance with your writing skills or specific assignments.

Graduate in Four Years
Contact your college advisor for information and advice regarding a four-year plan in your major. Advising information can be found on college web pages. You can also regularly view outstanding requirements for graduation on your Degree Audit Report located in the My Services box in the My BGSU web portal. Making your education a top priority and developing effective academic skills will assist you in staying on track with your plan.

Class Attendance
Review and adhere to attendance policies for your courses and make connections with other students in your classes so you can maintain accountability with each other. Attending class is an important part of succeeding in any course.

Good Class Participation
Review course materials, readings and notes before each class meeting. It may be helpful to come up with questions on these materials before going to class.
   
Organizational Skills
Meet with your college advisor or talk to a Resident Advisor for tips and advice on developing effective organizational skills. Record all important deadlines in an academic planner and set aside sufficient time to make progress towards project completion in order to remain organized in your courses, and with out of class responsibilities.
   
Graduate with Honors
Stay in regular contact with your college advisor for information on department honors and develop effective study skills to maintain good academic performance.
   
Enroll in a Variety of Courses
Meet with your college advisor to discuss elective options and to determine where they will fit into your academic plan. Remember to choose courses that are based on your interests and challenge yourself to take courses that will broaden your perspective.

Search for internship or service opportunities offered through your major or the Career Center to apply what you are learning in the classroom. Reflect on the connection between course material and these experiences to strengthen your understanding.
