Group counseling is an excellent form of counseling that has been shown to be as effective, and at times, more effective,
than individual counseling. It not only offers students an opportunity to get support and feedback from others, but are also
designed to facilitate healing, learning, and change. Some groups deal with general concerns; while others focus on specific
concerns such as body image or managing a relationship break-up.
Each semester, BGSU Counseling Center offers a wide range of groups to meet students needs. Some groups are formed at the
beginning of the semester and have specific start dates; while others are offered throughout the semester. Those interested
in group counseling will often first meet with a staff counselor to assess the match between individual needs and available
groups. (not all groups listed below are facilitated by the Counseling Center). Please use the links below to learn more about some of the different groups available on campus.
PLEASE NOTE:Depending on student turnout and other factors, groups may change throughout the academic year. For the most up-to-date information
on groups currently offered, please visit the Counseling Center or call us at 419-372-2081.
