ACT

PURPOSE
The ACT Assessment is one of the most widely used tests for undergraduate (college) admissions. Many colleges including Bowling Green State University accept (and in some cases require) ACT scores as part of the admissions process.

TESTING TIMES
Please use the link on the left navigation bar to access the most recent testing schedule.

LOCATION
The ACT is held in various locations on campus with parking readily available. Students should arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. to register.

ELIGIBLE TEST TAKERS
You may take the ACT Assessment as often as you wish. Many students take the test twice, once as a junior and again as a senior. There are no limitations on how many times you can take the ACT, but there are some restrictions on how often you can test. For example, you can test only once per national or state test date.

MATERIALS NEEDED
You will need to bring your test center admission ticket, some sharpened soft-lead (No. 2) pencils with erasers, and an acceptable form of identification. (A valid driver's license, current student ID, recent published photo, school letter or transcript and notarized statement with photo are acceptable.)

COSTS
The basic fee for the ACT Assessment, which includes reports for you, your high school, and up to four colleges, is approximately $29.00 for the ACT (No Writing) and $43.00 for the ACT Plus Writing in the United States. There are additional fees for late registration, standby testing, changing test centers or test dates, and for additional services and products.

HOW TO REGISTER
Get your copy of the printed registration bulletin from your local high school guidance office or the BGSU Counseling Center. You can also register on-line and by phone by using the following ACT Registration link.

TEST LENGTH
The examination takes about 3 hours and consists of four parts: English (45 minuets), Mathematics (60 minutes), Reading (35 minutes) and Science Reasoning (35 minutes). There is usually 10 minute break after the Mathematics test.

SAMPLE TEST QUESTIONS/TEST PREPARATION

SCORE REPORTING:
Scores are normally mailed about four weeks after the test date. In order to keep scores confidential, they will not be given to anyone by telephone, fax, or e-mail. Most scores are added to the computer files at ACT two to three weeks after each test date. Scores are available for reporting only after they have been added to the computer files. There is no provision for requesting that a test be scored faster.
