Freshman Development Program The goal of the Freshman Development Program (FDP) is to facilitate the academic and personal adjustment of first year students
as they begin their lives at BGSU. We provide academic advising, financial aid advising, career advising, and attend to individual
differences and needs. We also offer workshops designed to enhance academic skills, personal growth, cultural awareness, and
the overall college experience. The FDP provides a foundation for students to self-manage their academic progress by encouraging
frequent use of the Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculator and other resources and services. For more information, contact Dr. Manuel Pomales.
Parental/Family/Student Support In addition to the Freshman Development Program, family support systems are important for student success. The Center for

Success Track Students with a minimum of 30 credit hours and who want to improve their GPAs; this program can help. Students meet regularly
with the Retention Coordinator, who acts as a personal Success Coach. As students work through the Success Track Program
and use the tools recommended, they will become more self-confident, self-directed and self-assured when tackling their academic
work. The Success Coach teams up with students to help improve GPAs significantly. Participants feel more confident while
making their university experience more enjoyable and rewarding. Participants experience a sense of pride in a job well done
as they graduate from BGSU. Recipients of the Historically Underrepresented Scholarship or the Academic Excellence Scholarship,
who fall short of meeting the necessary GPA requirements, are obliged to participate in this program. For more information
