Delta Lambda Phi National Social Fraternity

What to join a brotherhood that will last for a lifetime?
What to Party like a Lambda Man?
What to Making Your Presence Known?

Delta Lambda Phi  is a National Social Fraternity for gay, bisexual, and progressive men. Chartered as a multi-campus fraternity on May 18, 2006, The Brothers of Delta Lambda Phi bring new social and educational programs, and to the Bowling Green State University and University of Toledo campuses.

In Washington, DC, in October 1986, three elderly gentlemen established a trust to create a social fraternity that would not discriminate based on sexual orientation; the donors regretted such an alternative organization did not exist during their formative years. As Trustee, Vernon L. Strickland, III, administered the founding of Delta Lambda Phi National Social Fraternity, creating its crest, selecting its mascot and designing its rituals. In April 1987, Strickland initiated 24 men into the Fraternity's Alpha Chapter-Delta Lambda Phi was born. Since then, Delta Lambda Phi has become one of the country's fastest growing fraternities with chapters from coast to coast.

Our Founding Purposes:

  • To provide dignified and purposeful, social, service, and recreational activities for progressive men, irrespective of sexual orientation.
  • To lead in determining the rights and privileges of individuals in society.
  • To promote a strong and positive image, which respects the diversity of all individuals, irrespective of sexual orientation.

Mission: As a non-profit organization, Delta Lambda Phi is organized for social and recreational purposes. More specifically, the Fraternity’s purposes also include enhancing the quality of life among gay, bisexual and progressive men by providing dignified and purposeful social, service and recreational activities.

Structure: Delta Lambda Phi is modeled after other collegiate Greek societies. It has a formal pledging process, a coat of arms, a fraternity pin, a national convention and chapter programs that conform to National Interfraternity Council policies. The Fraternity maintains its national office in Washington, DC. It is governed by an elected nine-member board of directors between annual conventions. Conventions are held annually and provide the board of directors and chapter leadership an opportunity to review Fraternity policies, attend leadership and educational seminars and socialize. Chapters and colonies are located throughout the United States.
