On-Campus Interview Visits & Information Sessions

On-campus recruiting is a proven, cost-effective method to identify and hire highly-motivated and talented students for internships, co-op assignments, and post-graduate, career-track positions. The staff of the Career Center is committed to providing efficient and responsive recruitment services for BGSU employers and students. To that end, we prepare our students for interviews; monitor interview schedules for compliance with employer requirements; help recruiters establish relationships with key faculty members, administrators and student leaders; and consult with employers to advance their diversity recruitment efforts.

Using a team approach, we work with employers to schedule and promote their recruiting visits, coordinate pre-recruiting events, and stimulate student sign-up for interviews. We publicize upcoming employer visits and interview schedules through personalized messages sent to qualified candidates, faculty and college advisors, and student leaders/advisors of honor societies, student professional associations, Greek organizations, multicultural groups, and other targeted student organizations. On-campus recruiters will be given special access to resume books (set up by career interest areas) through their WorkNet employer account and encouraged to contact students directly to build student interest and boost interview sign ups.

On-campus recruiting takes place during the fall and spring semesters. Please refer to the BGSU academic calendar to avoid scheduling recruiting dates during semester breaks, holidays and exam weeks. To ensure timely, campus-wide promotion of your recruiting visit, interviewing dates should be reserved at least two months in advance of the anticipated date of your visit. Scheduling well in advance is especially important for employers desiring prime interview dates in October, November, February, and March.

Employer information sessions and presentations can greatly enhance your on-campus recruitment effort. Sessions early in the semester raise student awareness about your organization, thereby increasing the number of resumes submitted for an interview. A session held the night before a recruiting date allows recruiters to present information about your organizational culture, available co-op/internship and career-track positions, training programs, advancement opportunities, and recruiting practices with students on your interview schedule. (Please note that alcohol should not be served at these events, in accordance with the NACE Principles for Professional Conduct for Career Services & Employment Professionals)

All recruiting requests should be made through the Career Center’s WorkNet system. With a WorkNet employer account, your recruiters can request an interview date, select interview schedule options, and request an Information Session. Once your interview date is confirmed, you can search resume books to pre-select candidates and notify students of your available positions, send email message to inform applicants individually of their interview status (e.g., invited, not invited, pending, alternate),view a list of candidates who have signed up for interviews, and print your applicant resumes and interview schedule(s), Please refer to Sections 7 and 9 of the WorkNet Employer User Guide for detailed instructions on requesting and managing interview schedules and pre-recruiting events.
