HOW DO I UPLOAD MY RESUME? Uploading a resume in WorkNet is necessary only if you are applying for a co-op/internship assignment or career (post graduation) position within WorkNet. Some employers might request a resume to be sent for On-Campus Student Employment or Part-Time/Seasonal Jobs, however, it is not necessary within WorkNet. You must also complete the Profile module before proceeding with this section.
The Pending Documents tab will indicate your file status. Your resume will stay in the Pending Documents tab until approved. The review process takes 2-3 business days. You will receive an e-mail from the Career Center stating either, your resume has been accepted, you may now apply to co-op/internship and career (post graduation) positions via WorkNet; or your resume has not yet been accepted and lists the reasons why it did not meet the minimum requirements. To see a full list of the minimum requirements the Career Center uses for the approval process, click here.
HOW DO I SEND MY RESUME TO EMPLOYERS? If looking for a co-op/internship assignment or career (post graduation) position, you can place your approved resume in WorkNet's Resume Books. Employers with access to WorkNet search these books to find qualified candidates for their openings.
Note: this feature is not available until your initial uploaded resume has been approved.
HOW DO I SEARCH FOR JOBS & INTERNSHIPS?
For optimum results, the Career Center recommends only using these two or three search option fields, selecting additional options might limit your results.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR JOBS & INTERNSHIPS? If looking for an on-campus student employment job or an off-campus part-time/seasonal job the application process requested by the employer will be given within the job description (i.e., mail resume, call, email, online application). If you are looking for a co-op/internship assignment or a career (post graduation) position the application process is through WorkNet. Refer to the status column to see if you qualify for the positions listed. Qualification status is indicated by either a green checkmark √ (Qualify) or red x (Do not Qualify). Qualification status is based on requirements set by the employer such as major, minimum GPA, student standing, and work authorization. You also must have an approved resume uploaded to qualify.
HOW DO I ACCESS INTERVIEW SCHEDULES? Every fall and spring semester, employers from businesses; school systems; and government, non-profit, and human services agencies recruit at the university to hire students for internships, co-ops, career-related positions, and training programs.
The interview module within WorkNet is very extensive, the Career Center highly recommends referring to Section 7 of the WorkNet Student User Guide (click here) for full details on how to utilize this feature.
HOW DO I VIEW/REGISTER FOR EVENTS? The Career Center sponsors many workshops, programs and events to assist you with your job search needs. Employers hold Information Sessions usually the night prior to their on-campus interview day, allowing candidates to meet with the recruiters, and learn more about the organization. To view and register for Workshops and/or Information Sessions, please do the following:
HOW DO I REQUEST AN ALUMNI WORKNET ACCOUNT? Recent graduates (within and up to two years after graduation) will need to request a WorkNet account by completing the WorkNet Alumni Account Request form. Once submitted our Career Center will review your information and upon approval you will receive an e-mail confirmation
with login information. Refer to the Alumni WorkNet User Guide (click here)
