The Interview Fishbowl
201 Bowen-Thompson Student Union
Watch real recruiters interview students in the glass fish bowl! Here is your chance to watch and learn as volunteer job applicants
respond to frequently asked questions posed by real recruiters in selection interviews. As an audience member, your job will
be to pay close attention to everything the recruiters and applicants do (non-verbal behaviors) and say (verbal responses)
and to record your observations. At the end of each interview, the job applicant and interviewer will be asked to share their
thoughts and personal feelings about the experience, and respond to questions from the audience. During the fishbowl report-out
segment, you will be invited to communicate your thoughts and observations about each applicant’s performance (positive and
negative), offer suggestions for improvement, and summarize what you found most relevant, convincing, and important. Fishbowl
simulations are motivational and powerful learning experiences. In today’s competitive job market, knowing what to expect
and how to prepare for interviews is critical for success.
