The
Nursing program offers the student an opportunity
to become actively involved in health care as
a professional nurse with a bachelor of science
in nursing degree. The curriculum emphasizes
a liberal education combined with the nursing
theory and clinical practice needed to develop
the educated nurse. A graduate of the nursing
program is capable of providing health services
for individuals, families, and communities and
eligible to take the licensing examination to
become a registered nurse. The program provides
preparation for future graduate study and leadership
in nursing.
The
consortium of The University of Toledo College
of Nursing and Bowling Green State University
provides an innovative and unique baccalaureate
nursing program. Undergraduate students take
prerequisite courses in the basic sciences and
liberal arts during the first two years at BGSU,
then attend classes on the University of Toledo
Health Science Campus and clinical training
at area hospitals during the last two years
of the program.
The
University of Toledo College of Nursing is accredited
by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
and has full approval of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Tuition for the nursing program is the same
as for all other degree programs. Additional
charges, however, are required for uniforms,
professional liability insurance, specific health
tests and immunizations, exit exam, convocation,
lab and upper division professional course fees.
The classes in the nursing major are taught
in Toledo at the University of Toledo Health
Science Campus. For the RN/BSN track, classes
are online, with advisors at BGSU Main Campus
and BGSU Firelands. Transportation to classes
and to clinical placements is the responsibility
of the student.
The
Nursing program offers two tracks to obtain
a bachelor of science in nursing degree:
- BSN for students entering
the nursing profession;
- RN/BSN
for students who are associate degree or diploma
graduates and have current unencumbered license
as a registered nurse.
Admission
requirement information is available from the
College Office.
