The Electro-mechanical Systems Technology major is to develop graduates skilled to meet the demands of modern integrated electro-mechanical systems. This frequently requires dealing with complex systems, often beyond any single technological discipline. The program consists of a solid foundation in physics, mathematics, communication, a broad, liberal education, real world work experiences through co-op requirements and a solid knowledge and understanding of electro-mechanical systems found in the manufacturing and processing industry. The program is modeled to meet the existing NAIT accreditation requirements, and is offered in the College of Technology.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, students in Electro-mechanical Systems Technology are expected to:

  • Demonstrate critical-thinking skills as they relate to solving electro-mechanical systems problems;
  • Conceptualize and implement an electro-mechanical system in the manufacturing and processing industry;
  • Demonstrate operational level skill ability in the various electro-mechanical systems found in the manufacturing and processing industry;
  • Research and produce an organized written rationale for using a specific system to solve a specific electro-mechanical problem;
  • Apply knowledge of industrial applications to electro-mechanical related technologies.
