Minimal
qualifications for a student to be eligible for a teaching license
in the state of Ohio include the successful completion of an appropriate
program of study, the achievement of a 2.5 accumulative grade point
average and successful completion of the Praxis II content and pedagogy
examinations. BGSU requires majors in the Adolescent/Young Adult
program to possess an overall GPA of 2.8, a content GPA of 2.8,
and to successfully complete the appropriate Praxis II content exam
to be eligible for admission to the Professional Year and for student
teaching.

Outcomes
Upon
completion of the baccalaureate degree, students in the adolescent/young
adult teacher education program are expected to:

Students apply
for admission into the Professional Year (methods and student teaching)
one semester in advance. Criteria for admission into methods include:
"C" or better in EDHD 201, ENG 112, IPC 102, EDFI 303,
EDIS 431, EDTL 367, and EDTL 370. Students must also have a 2.8
overall GPA and a 2.8 GPA in the major. Finally, students must successfully
complete the Praxis II content exam(s) prior to being admitted into
the Methods Block. Methods block (semester one) includes: EDTL 418,
420, 471, and EDFI 402. Students must complete all four courses
with a "C" or better AND maintain a 2.8 GPA in the major
and a 2.8 overall GPA to be admitted into student teaching.
