The Tourism major will consist of two options focusing on both domestic and global perspectives:

Tourism Studies—this option, disciplinary in nature, is designed to prepare students to understand the social science aspects of the tourism phenomenon. This option is designed for students who may wish to pursue graduate study.
Tourism Administration
utilizes a more hands-on, practical approach. This option prepares students for careers in the industry.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, attitudes, and/or values in communication and interpersonal skill, analytical skills, computer literacy, and numeracy. (both options)
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, attitudes, and/or values of economics, financial management, marketing, law, and human resource management. (administration option)
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, attitudes, and/or values in an appreciation of distribution patterns, geography, information technology, research methods, planning, and policy. (both options)
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, attitudes, and/or values in practical experience and knowledge of tourism workplaces. (administration option)
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, attitudes, and/or values in local, regional, international and global perspectives, including ethical, environmental, and social responsibilities. (both options)
