Career
Services provides comprehensive career planning and placement
services for students and alumni of the University. The
professional staff helps students clarify and implement
their career goals. Services offered include: a Career
and Life Planning course offered each semester; individual
counseling appointments; personality and occupational
interest inventories; SIGI+, an interactive computer career
guidance and information system; classroom presentations
on all phases of the career decision-making process; career
search workshops; on-campus interviews conducted by more
than 500 recruiters; career days and job fairs; online
listings and resume referrals; and alumni placement services.
Career
Services is nationally recognized as a leader in educational
programming. The department has received three national
awards including the Gutenberg Award for the Best HTML
Career Publication and two Awards of Excellence for Educational
Programming in Career Planning and Placement given by
the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
Any
student who needs assistance with selecting an academic
major or related career option is encouraged to schedule
a counseling appointment, or participate in a career exploration
course. It is recommended that students attend career
search programs and job fairs, register for resume referral
and campus interviewing, and utilize student employment/internship
and co-op and placement services, early in their academic
career.
