Continuing
Education, International & Summer Programs (CEISP)
extends the educational resources of the University through
creative on-campus and off-campus programs that link organizations
and individuals of all ages with the University's academic
programs and personal and professional development offerings.
Several of CEISP's programs may be of particular interest
to undergraduate degree-seeking students, including: (a)
Summer Programs, which promotes and coordinates the University's
summer course offerings, thereby helping support students'
success toward completing their degree; (b) Distance Education,
which promotes and coordinates the University's academic
year and summer courses offered via distance education
(i.e., web-based courses), providing alternative and off-campus
scheduling options for students to continue progress toward
a degree; (c) Education Abroad, which promotes and coordinates
the University's opportunities for students to study,
volunteer, or work abroad, providing global educational
experiences that support and enhance students' academic
degrees and personal development; and (d) International
Programs, which promotes the recruitment of international
students to the University's academic programs and provides
ongoing support and assistance to help international students
succeed in their academic studies.
Adult
students seeking a college degree or returning to college
for additional course work or an advanced degree may be
particularly interested in the following programs through
CEISP: (a) Adult Learner Services, which offers pre-admission
advising, career and academic counseling, and assistance
in scheduling and planning to ensure a successful transition
to the University; (b) Evening Credit Programs, which
promotes evening and weekend courses for students who
are balancing family and career responsibilities, helping
students obtain courses either required for their degree
or desired for their professional development; and (c)
Portfolio Assessment Program, which helps students with
significant work/life experiences petition for college-level
learning credit.
Continuing
Education, International & Summer Programs also supports
a number of off-campus graduate degree and noncredit programs
that meet the needs of a wider audience, including computer
software training, academic conferences and professional
institutes, business and industry professional development
training, and personal enhancement courses and workshops
for participants of all ages. A brief description of all
programs offered through CEISP appear on subsequent pages
of the BGSU undergraduate catalog.
