The BGSU Recycling Program is funded by these five primary sources:
Cost Avoidance
The University credits the Recycling Program the landfill disposal rate for every ton of recyclable material diverted from
the landfill. The revenue generated from avoiding landfill fees pays for the student employees who collect the material.
General Fees
Arrangements with the University allow for $3.00 of every student's general annual fee to aid the recycling program. This
pays for the full time recycling coordinator, and general office expenses.
Grants
Funding from the State of Ohio and the Wood County Solid Waste District benefit the recycling Program. Grants cover all capitol
equipment expenses, from the five collection vehicles to all the barrels and bins on campus.
Sales
Revenue is generated from selling the material collected on campus to the BG Jaycees' Recycling Center. Sales of the material
to the Recycling Center cover employee salaries and general expenses.
Pouring Rights
The contract for campus pouring rights includes money specified for the recycling program. This money pays the salaries of
collection employees and helps pay for the recycling bins on campus.
