FMS Training Schedule

Training Registration: To register for any training session,send an e-mail to Lori Beeman, at lbeeman@bgsu.edu.

Cancellation Policy: Five or more participants must be registered by 48 hours prior to the class time. If this requirement is not met, the class will be cancelled.


FMS Requester Training

Part 1: Monday, October 19, 2:15-4:15 p.m., Olscamp 207
Part 2: Friday, October 23, 9:00-Noon, Technology Building 247C

Prior to the class, you must do the following:

  1. Print and complete the FMS Request for Access Form. (Click the link to access the document.)
  2. Hand deliver these documents to Technology Support Center in Hayes Hall. TSC or a representative from Central Scanning, will scan these documents. These documents must be scanned and available for viewing by security and functional personnel prior to the start of the class.

FMS Query Manager Training

This class is completed in a lab hands-on setting.  Participants will be required to have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Database Structure and Query Viewer classes prior to attending.   Participants are also required to have access to the Financial Management System (FMS) and approval from a manager or supervisor to attend.

The two-day, full day class will cover the creation of simple queries, editing of fields, editing of criteria, and will work with creating prompts.  Other topics include applying join (auto, manual and related records), writing expressions, using prompts with expressions and the use of aggregate functions.  In addition, the lab will provide applicable examples and participants will work through group and individual query problems.  Participants are encouraged to bring problems they encountered in creating, modifying, and/or updating queries.  Along with troubleshooting, participants will perform exercises surrounding sub queries, the use of outer joins, using union, and finding the right records and fields.

Query Manager sessions will be offered on two days within a one week period.  Participants will be required to attend both days during the same one week period.  Session availability and sign up is available at:  https://intranet.bgsu.edu/pstrain/.

CSS Query Lab

Participants are required to have successfully completed CSS 110 – 140, Fundamentals of Database Structure, Query Viewer, and the Query Manager two-day class.

Users completing this class will apply query concepts covered in the Query Manager class. This ½ day training class is completed in a hands-on lab setting. Participants are encouraged to bring problems they encounter in creating, modifying, and / or updating queries. Along with troubleshooting participants will perform exercises surrounding the use of joins (standard and outer), subqueries, the use of unions, prompts, criteria, and searching for the right records and fields.
