Update: Appointment of Marcia Salazar-Valentine as Interim Dean of Continuing and Extended Education
I am happy to announce that Dr. Marcia Salazar-Valentine will be appointed as Interim Dean of CEE. Dr. Bill Balzer, current Dean of CEE, has decided to return to his faculty position in the Department of Psychology beginning July 1, 2008.
Dr. Salazar-Valentine has been Associate Dean of Off-Campus Programs and Summer Session in Continuing and Extended Education since 2000. While in this leadership role, she has implemented new graduate and undergraduate programs and courses of special interest to nontraditional students at off-campus sites. She helped oversee BGSU's summer session and created special-interest summer credit programs such as BGSU on the Road: Summer Freshman Trips and the Summer Academy for Educators.
Dr. Salazar-Valentine also served as director of BGSU's Principalship Cohort Leadership Academy in the College of Education and Human Development. In 1986, she was the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship to pursue research on John Steinbeck at San Jose State University, California. She is currently President Elect of the North Central Conference on Summer Sessions.
Please join me in welcoming Marcia Salazar-Valentine to the Interim Dean position in Continuing and Extended Education.
