Update: Appointment of Dr. Bruce Edwards as Associate Vice Provost for Academic Technology
We continue our efforts in work-force planning and realigning of functions within the provost office. As part of our ongoing reorganization, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bruce Edwards as Associate Vice Provost for Academic Technology.
Dr. Edwards will oversee the development and implementation of academic technologies to enhance teaching and learning. He will also provide leadership in operational and strategic planning and policy related to e-learning initiatives and academic support service systems.
Dr. Edwards has a long and distinguished history of service to BGSU, including serving as Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences from 1997-2000, and since 2001 as Associate Dean for Distance Education and International Programs in Continuing and Extended Education. He has helped lead the University's efforts to develop and expand the online delivery of BGSU programs to new student populations, in addition to teaching online undergraduate and graduate courses for the past seven years.
Dr. Edwards was awarded a 2005 Fulbright-Hays grant for a project in Tanzania and a 1999 Fulbright Fellowship at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya; in 1989, he was a Bradley Resident Scholar at The Heritage Foundation, Washington, D.C.
I know you will join me in welcoming Dr. Edwards as he begins his role as Associate Vice Provost during this important time at the University.
