Teaching and Research

  • BGSU hosted an Early Childhood Conference for local teachers and parents to learn about building motor skills and fostering courage and compassion in children. The conference was held in conjunction with local agencies, including YWCA Child Care Connection and Children’s Resource Center.
  • A group of Bowling Green City Schools preschool through third-grade teachers were part of a math and science institute held this summer at BGSU to improve education in the STEM disciplines–science, technology, engineering and math.
  • The BGSU Crime and Justice Research Lab, now in its second year, is enabling local law enforcement agencies to become more effective by providing them expert training, research and crime analysis.
  • Healthy living is promoted to Bowling Green and nearby residents through collaborative projects between local agencies and BGSU. Healthy Lifestyles is a partnership between Behavioral Connections and faculty members in the psychology department working to promote health goals for individuals with serous mental illness who are members of the Connection Center in Bowling Green. Also, Dr. Nancy Orel, gerontology, and her students work at the Wood County Senior Center in Bowling Green to educate senior citizens about a number of issues affecting older adults.
  • Former Iams Company President and CEO Clayton Mathile spoke at an open forum about “The Importance of Mission, Vision, Value and Beliefs in Business” as part of the Sky Bank-Edward and Linda Reiter Endowed Lectureship: Values and Ethics in the Workplace.
