Hello and welcome to the web pages for the Office of the President. I invite you to explore our site and learn more about
the rich history that defines Bowling Green State University, founded in 1910. What began some 90 years ago as a small teacher's
college in northwest Ohio has grown into a major institution of higher education with more than 20,000 students and approximately
2300 full-time faculty and staff members. This site has been organized to help those outside of the BGSU community learn as
much as possible about our students, faculty, staff and alumni. If you are a prospective student, please link to our admissions web page, if you have general questions about the University, please link to our BGSU homepage, and if you are an alumni reacquainting yourself with the institution, please visit the alumni web site. The site has also been designed to reflect our values of shared governance and commitment to a common vision. In addition,
our vision to become the premier learning community in Ohio and one of the best in the nation and our core values are operationalized
in reports and addresses made accessible online through these pages. Additionally, our annual institutional priorities are available online.
At BGSU we offer a very rich academic life which includes more than 200 undergraduate majors and programs on the main campus
housed within our six academic colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Human Development, Health and Human Services, Musical Arts, and Technology. Additionally, the University offers 8 baccalaureate degrees and 14 associate degree programs through our Firelands College Campus. The intellectual environment at BGSU is an exciting one which offers a breadth and depth of graduate study, that
includes: 15 masters degree programs in over 60 fields, 2 specialist degree programs, and 16 doctoral degree programs.

At BGSU we are proud to provide major university opportunities to students in an educational environment that feels "small
and connected," much like that of a small college community. This type of educational environment is supported by our excellent
faculty and staff members who, each day through their efforts, contribute to a learning community that maximizes student success.
As the President of BGSU, it is my hope that we create an educational environment that develops culturally literate, technologically
sophisticated, productive citizens who are prepared to lead, to inspire and to preserve the great traditions of our democracy.
It is my further hope that BGSU students graduate with not only a degree, but also a heightened social consciousness and a
felt responsibility for succeeding both personally and professionally. As you explore this web site, I encourage you to take
a close look at the various efforts and initiatives BGSU has undertaken during the past few years. After having read more
about our University, I hope that you will feel as I do, that Bowling Green State University is an institution that changes
lives. And its graduates leave the institution with good hearts as well as able brains and go on to change the lives of others,
our communities and the world.
Sincerely, Sidney A. Ribeau, President--
