Great Ideas: Questions & Answers

Posted: April 8, 2009

  1. Personalize messages to prospective students
  2. Web clearinghouse for operational changes
  3. BGSU involvement in local charitable causes
  4. Develop a presence on iTunes U

    1. A writer suggested personalizing messages to prospective students.

This idea is one that the Strategic Enrollment Management Team has started implementing. Personalized attention is one component of our overall enrollment marketing plan and includes a personalized birthday greeting from the University.

    2. A writer suggested that changes in day-to-day operations at the University be posted regularly on an intranet Web site to improve communications and productivity.

The Office of Marketing and Communications is exploring the idea with the Division of Finance and Administration.

    3. A staff member suggested that the University become more involved in local charitable causes including launching food or clothing drives.

The University’s administration is extremely proud of the community involvement and generosity of our faculty, staff and students, who are involved in a number of charitable activities, including the annual United Way/Community Shares campaign. If a faculty or staff member or department is interested in starting a new charitable effort, we will gladly examine how we might help, including publicizing the effort through the Office of Marketing and Communications.

    4. A writer recommended taking advantage of iTunes U as a way to distribute University podcasts and drive enrollment.

The Office of Marketing and Communications will be working with the Strategic Enrollment Management Team to re-examine the potential uses of iTunes U and BGSU’s presence on the site.
