Classification Specification Project

Classified Staff Members:

For the first time in decades, BGSU is updating the classification specifications for classified staff members. The results of this important initiative will allow the University to accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities of the work done on our campus by classified staff. The results will also allow classified staff members to develop career paths at BGSU.

I am following the work of the Classification System Project Team and have reviewed the information you shared through the charrettes and focus groups held on campus in early August. Thank you for your input.

The next step in the project is to have each staff member complete the “Classification Specification Questionnaire.” The questionnaire will allow you to clearly identify the experience, education and skills required of your position. This is our opportunity to begin to refresh our outdated job classification system and to accurately reflect the important work that you do in support of our students, faculty and staff.

Let me once again assure you that no one will lose pay or their job as a result of this process. I encourage you to complete the Questionnaire by taking the time to carefully identify and record the duties you perform.
