Q . Is employee active in PeopleSoft?
A. Look at the Job Data screen or the HR/JOb/Payroll Data Screen.
Q . Can I verify employment on someone?
A.Yes, classified & Administrative only - Students, Grad Students, and Faculty are handled by the Payroll Office.
Q. What are employees' dates of service and why are award dates sometimes different from start date?
A. View the Job Data, Employment Information screen. This date can be amended by previous state employment or temporary employment. ORIG HIRE DATE is also on Job Dat, Employment Information. This date indicates first date of any type of employment at BGSU.
Q. How do I know if I am an emergency employee?
A. A list is provided by Facilities Services and emergency employees should have a card.

A. View Monthly Leave Accruals, Leave Accruals.

A. 30-35 hour per week may work more occasionally at discretion of supervisor.

A. Yes

A. Anyone, files are public records. We have forms to be completed when someone views a personnel file.
Q. For classified staff, is it necessary to do an annual evaluation for a new employee whose probation period recently ended?
A.Yes, if probation end date is before Dec. 31. No, if after Dec. 31.
Q. How do I get my name/address changed in the system?
A. Contact HR Records, Office of Registration & Records, or go to MyBGSU.
Q. Where can I get an employee handbook?
A. Print from HR web site: WWW.BGSU.EDU/OFFICES/OHR. Select RESOURCES then HANDBOOKS.
Q.What employee information is considered private and cannot be released?
A. Medical information and Social Security Number.
Q. Can I be required to do something that is not in my job description?
A. Yes, however if you are required to work in a higher classification, you maybe entitled to additional compensation.

Q. If a classified employee works on a holiday, what is their rate of pay?
A. Holiday pay plus 1 1/2 times normal rate of pay
Q. Do intermittent employees get holiday pay?
A. No, unless they are scheduled on a holiday and they actually work, then they get time and 1/2.
Q. Can I have my paycheck deposited to more than one bank account, i.e. part in savings & part in checking?
A. No - the bank would have to do it at their end.
Q. Why does my co-worker make more than I do and we've been here about the same amount of time?
A. Reclassifications, promotions, & merit raises can affect rate of pay.
Q. How will merit raises be awarded for classified staff?
A. From annual evaluations - must have overall rating established by Executive V.P and approval. Merit raises along with across the board raises are contingent upon funding and Board approval.
Q. Where do I change my tax forms or direct deposit information?
A. Human Resources/Records section or Payroll Office.
Q. For new employee payroll signup, what do I need to bring with me?
A. Bank account info for direct deposit and a blank deposit slip for checking account, US passport or picture ID, i.e. driver's license, and original social security card or birth certificate.
Q. When do I receive my W-2 form?
A. Payroll mails W-2 forms Jan. 20 or shortly thereafter.

Q. What if the administrative payday falls on a weekend?
A. Deposit will be done on Friday before.
Q. What if a holiday falls on a weekend?
A. If holiday falls on Saturday, we celebrate on Friday, if Sunday, we celebrate on Monday.
Q. I'm leaving the university, what do I need to do?
A. Submit a letter of resignation to your supervisor and Call HR/Records to schedule an exit interview.
Q. Why doesn't Joyce get her 25-year award this year?
A. Her anniversary date is not before Dec. 31, 2000.
