Q. Where do I find out what jobs are available?
A
. Classified and Administrative position vacancies are listed on the Job Board by the front door; on our website (www.bgsu.edu/offices/ohr); and on the Administrative Staff Job Line (419-372-8522) and the Classified (hourly) Staff Job Line (419-372-8669).

Q. Where are the Employment Applications?
A.
Employment applications are located in the turn-style in front of the counter for Classified positions.   You may download an application by clicking here. Instructions to apply for Administrative positions are on the position descriptions.

Q. What is the deadline to apply for this job?
A.
Deadlines are listed on each position description.

Q. How long do you keep applications on file?
A. For one year.

Q. When will I be called for an interview?
A. Once all applications are reviewed, the hiring department will select and call the applicants that they would like to interview.

Q. Has the position I applied for been filled yet?
A. There is a Classified and Administrative Job Status report on the BGSU HR website which gives up-to-date information on where we are in the hiring process for a particular position.

Q. Who should I address my cover letter to?
A. There is a search committee that reviews credentials. You can address your cover letter to "Search Committee".

Q. I'm a BGSU employee, how do I apply for a job?
A.
Part-time and Full-time employees not currently serving a probationary period complete an employee transfer form. The transfer form may be obtained from our office or the HR website. An updated data sheet or resume must be attached to the transfer form (HR does not pull data sheets/resumes that are in Personnel files or attached to a previous transfer form. It is up to the employee to furnish a new one.

Q. When do I have to turn in my transfer form?
A.
Usually Friday at 1:00 p.m. is the posting deadline.

Q. I'm a temporary employee, when can I apply for campus jobs?
A.
Temporary employees who receive a BGSU paycheck can apply for positions posted in the Monitor once they have achieved 700 hours (work time on AHRS System plus any time turned into Payroll).

Q. I'm a temporary employee from a temporary agency, when can I apply for BGSU positions?
A.
You are not an employee of BGSU; therefore, you can apply for positions that are open to the public.

Q. I'm a BGSU employee and currently serving a probationary period, can I apply for a position posted in the Monitor?
A.
No, however you can apply for positions that are open to the public while in a probationary period.

Q. How do I find out what Benefits the University offers?
A.
University benefits are on HR website www.bgsu.edu/offices/ohr/benefits.

An audit questionnaire can be sent electronically.

Q. What does NEO Stand for?
A.
New Employee Orientation

Q. I've been on campus for years, do I have to attend?
A.
Yes, if you've accepted a new position recently.

Q. How often do you have NEO?
A.
As the number of newly hired employees demands. Call the Office of Human Resources (419-372-8421) for the next scheduled date.

Q. If I can't make it this month can I attend the next session?
A.
Yes you can, please call the Office of Human Resources and let them know that you cannot attend this session, but will come to the next available program.

Q. Do I have to attend training for Fire Safety, Sexual Harassment and Violence Prevention?
A.
Yes, it is University policy that you attend all of these training sessions. Note, Sexual Harassment is available online.

Q. How long does NEO last?
A.
8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Q. What will I learn in NEO?
A.
Facts about the University's history, values and mission; how your department/unit fits into the university; training that the University has made mandatory for all employees, information about many programs and services to help you do your job.
