Position Summary

The primary purpose of the position is to mentor, guide and supervise Early Childhood Education majors as they work in the Child Development Center, BGSU’s lab preschool.  A secondary purpose is to organize and oversee the day-to-day operations of the preschool and to teach the preschoolers. This is a permanent nine-month, Full-time, Administrative staff position.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

• Mentor, guide and supervise pre-service teachers.

• Maintain high quality preschool program based on research in the field for best practices.

• Assess and evaluate pre-service teachers assignments & skills in the classroom.

• Collaborate with faculty/instructor of HDFS 3200.

• Manage preschoolers and pre-service teachers paperwork (emergency contacts, health records, attendance, background checks, references, etc).

• Participate in community outreach projects that involve children and families.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Early childhood education knowledge, classroom management skills, curriculum development skills, community outreach skills, communication and interpersonal relationship skills

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in early childhood education or related field required. Also required three years teaching experience and teaching license in early childhood.

Pre-Employment Background Check
Final candidate(s) are required to authorize and pass a background investigation prior to an offer of employment.  Offers of employment are conditional until a background investigation has been successfully completed and all other pre-employment requirements are satisfied.  The University reserves the right to determine and confirm suitability for employment and to end any employment already begun if the background check reveals disqualifying information.  

Salary
This is a permanent, full-time, nine-month, administrative staff position. Administrative pay grade 354. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefits package available.
