Waiver for Full-Time Employees
Full-time employees (consult your handbook for definition) may enroll in 15 hours each academic year, not to exceed 8 hours
per academic term [audit or credit] without payment of tuition or general fees. The academic year accounting of courses taken
begins with the fall semester ie, from fall semester through the following summer session of each year. If the employee's
date of hire is after classes have begun for a specific semester, the fee waiver can be utilized beginning with the subsequent
semester.
Waiver for Dependents
Spouse and/or dependent children of a full-time employee that has completed three (3) years of full time service at Bowling
Green State University may enroll as a student without payment of tuition. General fees will still be charged to the student's
account. If the employee's three (3) year full-time anniversary is after classes have begun for a specific semester, the
dependent fee waiver can be utilized beginning with the subsequent semester.
Eligibility: The child, children, and/or cohabitant spouse of a full-time employee is eligible to receive fee waiver benefits provided
that the individual is eligible to be claimed by the employee as a personal exemption under provision of Section 151 of the
Internal Revenue Code.
Waiver for Part-Time Employees
Part-time employees are also eligible for fee waiver benefits. Consult your perspective handbooks for the eligibility standards.
Please note that dependents of part-time employees are not eligible to utilize the dependent fee waiver.
Reciprocity
An agreement exists between Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and the University of Toledo (UT) whereby full-time employees
of one university may take courses, with a fee waiver, at the other university. This arrangement covers full-time employees
only and does not include waivers for dependents.
Please note: The excess of graduate level classes where the benefit exceeds $5,250.00 in a calendar year are taxable for the
employee.
