First Year Programs
As you begin your first year at BGSU, you will find there are many people and resources dedicated to your success.
One opportunity for you to make the most of these resources is by participating in our First Year Success Series (FYSS). FYSS is a collection of workshops presented by a variety of offices and resources on campus to assist with your transition to college and connect you with other students and members of the University community.
The program will help you find resources to ensure your progress in our Four Pillars of Success:
- Academic Success: Learn how to establish a strong foundation of study skills, routines and actions that allow you to perform and achieve at a high level in your area of course-study
- Career Development: Get started on a path toward career success by exploring your interests and opportunities for experiential learning
- Leadership and Engagement: Develop a plan of action to become involved in leadership opportunities that support your personal and career goals, and learn ways to feel at home in the BGSU community
- Personal and Fiscal Responsibility: Recognize and appreciate your new freedoms and responsibilities and make choices that result in positive outcomes for your life at BGSU and beyond
