Celebrating Faculty Excellence

State Fire School starts May 10
Hundreds of emergency responders will arrive on campus Monday, May 10, for State Fire School. The program runs until May 14.
The opening ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union with a presentation by Toledo Pipes and Drums and a welcome by President Carol Cartwright. Steven Kimple, Battalion Chief, Washington Township Fire Department, will present the keynote address, "16 Lifesaving Initiatives."
Since 1974, BGSU's premier fire training program has provided the most up-to-date training and education in firefighting, officer leadership, investigation, technical rescue, emergency medical care, and more.
One training exercise is taking place on campus. From 8 a.m. to noon on May 14, an advanced rope rescue class will using Offenhauer. The class will involve lowering a "victim" and "rescuer" to the ground.
In memoriam
The campus community was saddened to learn of the untimely death at age 49 of electrician Ronald Thompson this week. He had worked at BGSU since December 1987.
