Flanked by University horticulturalist Frank Schemenauer (left) and biologist Dr. Helen Michaels (right), President Cartwright proclaims the white oak BGSU’s oldest tree.
Meet the oldest tree on campus
At nearly 259 years old, it’s twice as old as BGSU itself. The towering white oak in the Oak Grove near Williams Hall was revealed as the oldest tree on campus at a “Century Trees” ceremony this morning in celebration of the Centennial and Arbor Day.
