Englehart addresses
Washington, D.C.,
task force
Dr. Neil Englehart, political science, is presenting his research on state failure today to the Political Instability Task Force in Washington, D.C.
Formed in 1994 by then-Vice President Al Gore, the federal task force is charged with developing ways to predict state failure so that emerging problems can be addressed before they escalate into major crises requiring international intervention.
In his invited talk, Englehart will draw on material from the book he is working on, Petty Despots and Exemplary Villains: State Failure and Human Rights. This includes data developed in his ongoing research project with BGSU undergraduate and graduate students on non-state-armed groups such as militias, terrorists and insurgents. |
Another financial aid
workshop
held today
The Office of Student Financial Aid is hosting its third financial aid workshop of 2010 today, providing families information on the federal aid process as it relates to their enrollment at BGSU.
The workshops have been very popular this year, with more than 870 guests in attendance at the first two workshops in January. This third program was added to accommodate more families, with over 500 guests expected. On average, 88 percent of the students who have attended these workshops in past years have eventually enrolled at Bowling Green. |
