Messer-Kruse book named Best Book in Labor History Dr. Tim Messer-Kruse got a pleasant surprise when he visited his office and sorted through his summer mail. Messer-Kruse, a professor in the School of Cultural and Critical Studies, discovered his book The Trial of the Haymarket Anarchists: Terrorism and Justice in the Gilded Age had been named the 2012 Best Book in Labor History by the journal Labor History. The award comes with a $1,000 prize. In addition to his award-winning book, Messer-Kruse has written another book focusing on the rise of anarchism in America. The Haymarket Conspiracy: Transatlantic Anarchist Networks will be published later this month by the University of Illinois Press as part of its prestigious "Working Class in America" series. |
