Summer Reading List 2012 | Week 5

I don’t do a lot of leisure reading these days, since I’m back in graduate school. I've been studying Peter Morville in my library and information science coursework, so I hope to read his books Ambient Findability and Search Patterns this summer in my spare time. For fun, I hope to read Bossypants by Tina Fey.

As you will see from the list below, I'm a non-fiction memoir kind of girl. I’ve always enjoyed reading celebrity memoirs and autobiographies. I remember selecting Lillian Gish’s autobiography for my high school history class book report and being assigned to read Frank Capra’s The Name Above the Title for one of my undergraduate popular culture courses. Studying film and television has been a part of my life ever since then and I select celebrity memoirs to read because I’m interested in the process of how these individuals attained their goals. Each story is a little different, which makes them more fun to read than genre fiction.

These are my favorite books I've read over the past few years. They are all quick reads:

• Mostly True: A Memoir of Family, Food and Baseball by Molly O'Neil
