BGSU CELEBRATES CENTENNIAL WITH ALUMNI & FRIENDS WEEKEND

Bowling Green State University is hosting an array of special get-togethers, reminiscences, music and sneak peeks of what’s in store for the University’s future at the Centennial Alumni & Friends Weekend June 26 and 27.

Couples who met at BGSU, many of whom were married in Prout Chapel on campus, will reaffirm their commitment in the Falcon Flames vow renewal ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel.

The weekend kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday with a Fit for All 5k fun run/walk at the Student Recreation Center.

In addition to 25- ,40- and 50-year reunion luncheons, alumni and friends can learn about everything from the history of the University to the extensive plans for new buildings and services on campus at a series of workshops. Alumnus Roger Lowe, senior vice president for communications at the American Red Cross, will speak about the agency’s efforts in Haiti at an 11 a.m. session in 207 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Other sessions feature tips on pairing food and wine and how to prepare for college, for those parents of future legacy students.

The revelry continues at the Centennial birthday bash, from 7-10 p.m. Saturday in a tent at Mileti Alumni Center.

The weekend wraps up with a show by former campus singers performing in the Alumni Men’s Chorus/Summer Tour Choir at 3 p.m. Sunday in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center.
